establishing Turkey’s first private geothermal power plant in 2006 MB Holding; Dora-3, the 3rd geothermal power plant that will serve with an installed capacity of 34 MWe (megawatts), has been commissioned in Aydın. With the Dora-3 Geothermal Power Plant, which was opened by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yıldız and made with an investment of 100 million dollars by Menderes Geothermal Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., MB Holding’s total installed geothermal electricity power increased 54 MWe in Aydın. During the opening ceremony of the Dora-3, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Dora-4, which is planned to be commissioned at the end of 2015, will have an installed capacity of 17 MWe.

The construction, textile, energy, ready mixed concrete, perlite and greenhouses operating in the area, establishing Turkey’s first private geothermal power plant MB Holding Menderes Geothermal Electricity Generation Inc. The opening ceremony of the Dora-3 Geothermal Power Plant was held in Aydın on Saturday, June 21, under the auspices of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Taner Yıldız, with the participation of the Aydın, Gaziantep and Denizli protocol and hosted by MB Holding Chairman Muharrem Balat.

The Chairman of MB Holding Board gave a speech at the ceremony, Muharrem Balat, many firsts in terms of energy, technology, and has led to innovation and Turkey’s first private geothermal energy for being established the plant they undertake an important task, the development of geothermal energy resources in Turkey Menderes Geothermal Elektrik Üretim A.Ş.’s electrical energy demand, which is increasing in parallel with the economic development, by stating that they play a pioneering role for; said that it meets with alternative, environmentally friendly, renewable and sustainable resources.

Start; ” After the first geothermal power plant was built in Aydin Turkey DORE-1 with 8.5 megawatts installed capacity of 11.5 MW and the installed capacity of the plant are opening DORA DORA-2-3 at 34 megawatts today. As MB Holding, we think that the investments we make in the field of geothermal will bring many social returns. In addition to evaluating the potential of geothermal power plant investment field, we bring dynamism to the economy of Turkey and, in particular, we remove and clean indigenous energy source, geothermal energy to face the day.

By bringing geothermal energy, which is an environmentally friendly energy source, to the economy, we have reduced carbon dioxide emission compared to energy production from comparable carbon fuels, as well as contributing to the reduction of foreign exchange inputs spent for oil. To put it in numbers; In the DORA-1 project, 32,000 tons of carbon dioxide emission reduction is achieved annually, 45,000 tons in the DORA-2 project, and 110,000 tons in the DORA-3 project. With the commissioning of the DORA-4 project, all of the electrical energy consumption required by Aydın Industry will be provided from DORA facilities. With the electrical energy generated from DORA facilities, approximately USD 35,000,000 per year will not be spent in exchange for natural gas and / or petroleum products.

Turkey’s geothermal energy in production capacity as a European first, world reminiscent of the seventh Balat, with global warming and fossil fuels, the environmental factors that affect the future of Turkey stressed the importance of reducing renewable clean energy such as geothermal. In Balat, Aydın, they will increase their geothermal power of 54 MWe with a new investment and that the Dora-4 power plant, which is planned to be commissioned at the end of 2015, will increase the total energy production capacity of Menderes Geothermal A.Ş. to 71 MW, and the geothermal power within the company He added that by the end of 2015, 700 million kWh of electricity will be produced annually from the facilities.

Menderes Geothermal Electricity Generation Inc.’s goal Dora-4 and Dora-5 projects and that they want to ensure maximum benefit from the geothermal investment in expanding natural energy resources of Turkey Balat, said: “Geothermal energy domestic As is known, clean, renewable and it is a sustainable energy source. We need to evaluate our domestic resources more. In this sense, we value each megawatt as a local resource. Thanks to this resource, which is convenient to use, reliable and environmentally friendly, our power plants earn our country the foreign currency that should be spent on natural gas (32 million USD) annually. Currently a total installed capacity of geothermal power plants in Turkey reached 241.7 MWe. This amount in 2015, Turkey’s total 500 MW, while in 2020 will be up to 1000 MWe. These investments are very important facilities for our country.

MB Holding, which will continue its energy investments on the geothermal field after the Dora-3 power plant, will continue its investment studies on integrated geothermaline investments. The modern glass greenhouse investment with geothermal heating, which is currently located in the Aydın region on an area of 41,000 m2, is the first project to be implemented from MB Holding’s integrated investments. The development and growth of this project; In addition to greenhouses, investments are planned to be initiated in the field of thermal health tourism in the second half of 2015. Balat; “One of Turkey’s largest projects are advancing our thermal project with a staff of experts.

Geothermal water is a rare boon that must be used carefully and consciously, benefiting more than one area at the same time. However, the principle of “sustainability” is full loyalty in the use of this blessing. Anyone investing in this area supply the most efficient and accurate manner should try to use Turkey’s energy supply security services to geothermal resources that should be used carefully. “We are doing our best to ensure that everyone benefits from this blessing and add value to the economy of the region and the country in the most effective way.”

Mr. Taner Yıldız, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, who attended the ceremony and started his speech by saying “Aydın is a Very Important City for Us”; “First of all, I would like to express that I am happy to participate in such a ceremony. Aydın is an extremely important city for us. Aydın is one of the provinces with the highest domestic and renewable energy resources. It makes us happy to be instrumental in putting such important investments into service in Aydın. Of course, geothermal energy will make a significant contribution to the future of the country.

With such investments coming into service, I hope there will be a decrease of 1 billion dollars in natural gas imports in the coming years. 1 billion dollars is an important figure. We have to make more effort to transfer the continuation of these works to the next generations. I congratulate the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MB Holding, Muharrem Balat and his family for making such good investments and wish these investments to be beneficial to Aydın and our country ”.

Minister Yıldız, together with Dora Pancar, the grandson of Muharrem Balat, who named the power plants as well as protocol members, opened the power plants after the ceremony.
